Just hold on

I walk along the empty road,

silence thick as fog,

sounds muffed,

colors greyed in muted light.

Solitude presses in.

Solitude filled with pain.

Darkness descends.

The paradox of being alone and lonely

Longing for connection

but only knowing rejection and pain.

Walking along the empty road,

wandering alone,

filled with sorrow,

a life alone.

Despair creeps in,

darkness surrounds.

No hope, no light,

No one to shine a light,

No relief from the crushing dark.

But dawn will follow the darkness of night.

Resist the falseness of apathy,

cling to a spark of light,

hold on to a wisp of hope,

call out in the darkness,

shout at the demons,

stomp around in anger,

Until the light of dawn surrounds you.

Even the longest night will give way to sunrise,

even the deepest sorrow will eventually give way to joy.

Just hold on through one more night,

the sun will lift the darkness,

hope will return.

Just hold on.
